Where and when will the exam take place?

One of our highly trained, professional examiners will call you. At your earliest convenience we will schedule an appointment. To meet your needs, the exam may be performed at your home, office, our exam center, or any other convenient location.   Top of Page

What is included in the exam and how long will it take?

Our routine examination includes your medical history, height, weight, urinalysis, blood pressure and pulse. The exam is usually completed within twenty minutes.   Top of Page

What kind of medical history will be asked?

Our examiner will ask the names and addresses of physicians and/or hospitals and questions about illness, surgery, medications or other treatments you may have had. You may wish to make a few notes in advance to save time during the exam.   Top of Page

Are there any other requirements?

If additional testing is required such as a questionnaire, electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) or a blood test, you will be notified in advance.   Top of Page

What happens to this information?

All information obtained during the examination is handled as strictly confidential and upon completion is sent to the insurance company as part of your application for life and/or health insurance.

What is collected?

The Urine Specimen

A urine specimen is collected and sent to a laboratory for analysis. The results are forwarded to the insurance company.   Top of Page

The Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG)

The electrocardiogram is a recording of the electrical impulse associated with the contraction and relaxation phases of the heart muscle. The procedure is painless. You will have to remove your shirt/blouse and lie down.   Top of Page

The Blood Test

The examiner will will draw 1-3 vials, less than one ounce, using sterile equipment by veni-puncture. Ask the examiner to show you the sterile seal on the needle. The specimen is forwarded to a laboratory for analysis according to the insurance company's specifications. Test results are reported in strictest confidence directly to the insurance company. A finger-stick method of blood sampling is used in some instances. If you tend to be a little bit nervous about needles and blood tests, it is best to sit or lie down for the procedure.

How Do I Prepare for the Medical Examination?

To obtain the best possible results we suggest you follow a few simple steps to prepare:

• Undressing is not required, but please wear a garment which is short-sleeved, or has sleeves that can be easily rolled up.

• Drink a glass of water one hour or so before the exam as this will facilitate obtaining a urine specimen.

• Avoid caffeine (Coffee, soda, tea) for several hours before the exam.

• Avoid smoking or chewing tobacco for at least one hour prior to your scheduled appointment.

• Avoid alcoholic beverages for at least eight hours prior to the exam.

• Avoid nasal decongestants.

• Get a good night's rest before the exam.

• Schedule the appointment for the least stressful time of the day.

• Have photo identification available.

• If blood testing is required, try to fast for at least 4 hours before your exam - 8 hour fast is preferred. You may drink water.

• Do not engage in strenuous exercise for 24 hours
